Month two in Bangkok!
August 10
Another teacher invited us to meet her at the local temple, Wat Dhammamongkol. We have decided to walk when we can, so we walked to the temple. Ended up being a great decision. Got to see interesting things along the way, including this bright orange house and this shrine along the "jungle" walkway next to the canal. I didn't get many pictures at the temple, as there were dozens of people praying while we were there. This temple is fairly new, as it was built in the 1960s. Afterward, we walked to a really neat coffee shop and I took some random pictures of cool kettles and coffee makers.
Then, we walked to lunch before heading our separate ways. It was a great day!

August 12-18
This week and weekend were pretty slow. We have been reminding ourselves that we moved to Thailand so we could take it easy, spend more time as a family, and travel when we can. We have been doing well at the take it easy part. π Here are a few pictures of dinner, scoping out a new grocery store, and playing a board game (Trains) before bed. We did go to an amazing Vietnamese restaurant for dinner, but it was so yummy we didn't get a picture before we ate it all. π Colt and I had Bun Thit Nuong (Vermicelli Bowl). Don't worry, Zamin got the pho, which is still his declared favorite food.

About half of the chilis removed. Needless to say, these dishes were quite spicy. ![]() |

Zamin said "This is the best pizza I've ever had." The following day, he downgraded to "It was pretty good." I think it's just been awhile since he's had pizza; plus, he really likes yogurt. Lol. |

Almost got caught in the rain when we stopped to get Thai Iced Tea at our local supermarket. Can't pass up a deal.π Got smart and decided to run across the parking lot to eat dinner at one of our favorite spots. Where I am standing, there are 5 different restaurants in a row to choose from and several places to sit inside and out. By the time we were done eating and relaxing (which is what we do a lot here), the rain had stopped.

Explored yet another Bangkok mall today thanks to Lou and Guy, teachers from our school. Found a store with anything you want and everything you don't need, Mr. DIY. Then, got to our planned destination, a school supply store. Great finds there! Someone was excited about all the beakers and Erlenmeyer flasks. π§ͺπ¨π¬π€Had dinner there and walked/took a taxi home. Productive afternoon/evening. π

Went to yet another Bangkok mall yesterday, K Village, to check out "Zero Waste Weekend" market. This was a smaller mall, but a very cool open air concept. We decided to eat dinner at one of the many restaurants there. This was a Japanese Curry house, CoCo Ichibanya. I know, eggs and curry may not sound or look good together, but this was so yummy. Zamin LOVES eggs, so he was beyond excited to also have curry with it. He couldn't get enough. This picture is of the special we split. The salad was really good as well, with a nice sesame dressing. And at this place, the sugar was served separate, so we could decide how sweet we wanted our tea. ☺️πThat's not been common practice in Bangkok for us so far. Most drinks are sweet or sweeter. π After dinner, we walked across the street to one of the local supermarkets that has a mall below it. There was a Toys R Us! And Zamin decided he needed a chair massage at Cloud 9. π Fun evening. ♥️
August 25-30
Some pics from the week. 1. Bible class at a church we've been attending. Mostly Thais, but one other American family, so we're trying to figure out the interpreting piece. π 2. Zamin's first haircut in our new place. #potbelly π 3. Zamin standing beneath our "house flag" at school. Our house (Emerald) won the event last week. 4. Picked up a refreshing coconut drink from a street vendor. 5. Playing in the mud during outdoor learning. #bowtiesandmud 6. First after school swimming lesson. 7-9. Back to School Bingo Night. Guess who got to MC? π And Zamin hung out with the middle school girls. Fun evening! 10. On our walk home, taken from the elevated walkway over one of the busiest streets that connects to the SkyTrain (public transportation). Nice to be up above the car' and motorbikes' exhaust and noise.

Raw video footage from part of our walk home. :)

Chinatown, Bangkok
Explored this area of Bangkok one weekend. We walked around a bit before this lovely tea house opened. We got to taste 3 different teas with Chinese tea cakes. Zamin loved it!
